Alright guys, time to get the pencils and papers out. Here’s a quiz. Can you name the fighter who has won 12 of his last 13 fights, has beaten Matt Lindland and has won 20 of 23 fights in his career? Who is Niko Vitale is the correct answer.

Why Pride or the UFC have not picked up the fighter who is 20-3 overall is a bit of surprise as Vitale continues to just win. The SuperBrawl Champion (no idea if he will then become the Icon champ after this fight since the name change) has been on a great role winning the SuperBrawl Championship belt by knocking out Masanori Suda.

His opponent, Robbie Lawler has just three losses in his career as well. He has won 8 of his 11 fights, but after winning 7 straight fights he lost his last 3 of his last four. The three fighters were all top caliber fighters in Evan Tanner, Nick Diaz and Pete Spratt.

For both fighters they are looking for one thing, respect. Lawler is tired of hearing about being the UFC golden boy, while Vitale is looking for another win to cement himself as a top ten fighter. For whatever reason, the fans nor the media have given him that distinction as a top ten fighter. Hopefully he will earn that this weekend IF he beats Robbie Lawler. Both will look to earn everyone’s respect this weekend in Hawaii as the former “SuperBrawl”, looks to crown an “Icon” this weekend.
