What Makes UFC Champ Cain Velasquez Shed a Tear?

When a fighter is the main event in a major UFC show, the spotlight is always a little brighter.

For UFC heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez, who has been touted in Fox promotional ad’s as ‘The Baddest Man on the Planet’, the bright lights are shining on him more than ever before ahead of his showdown with Junior Dos Santos.

Sometimes before a fight, the competitors are asked the standard ‘fight’ questions about preparation, training, and their opponents. Often however we find out something interesting that we simply didn’t know about them before.

In Cain Velasquez’s case, on Tuesday we learned what makes the UFC heavyweight champion shed a tear or two.

The sport’s top heavyweight appeared on ESPN’s ‘Dan LeBatard is Highly Questionable’ on Tuesday, and in a rapid fire succession of questions, host Dan LeBatard found out some interesting tidbits about Velasquez.

Velasquez admits he doesn’t really ever get scared before a fight, maybe nervous, but never scared. He is however scared of ghosts, although he’s never seen one.

The best part may be when Velasquez revealed the last time he cried at a movie. Granted, he was nine years old at the time, but it still counts.

“The last time was watching Terminator 2 at the end when Arnold/The Terminator pretty much kills himself,” Velasquez said about the last time he cried at a movie.

“I was young back then, but I still remember it now. That was pretty sad. He’s going down into the lava and he has a thumb up as he’s going down.”

He may be the ‘Baddest Man on the Planet’, but Cain Velasquez is still a man with a soul.

This one’s for you, Cain.
