World Extreme Cagefighting on Tuesday announced Bryan Caraway as Mark Hominick’s new opponent for WEC 46: Varner vs. Henderson. The event is scheduled for Jan. 10 at the ARCO Arena in Sacramento, Calif.

Hominick (16-8) will finally make his WEC return when he steps in the cage with Caraway. He exited the promotion after a loss to Josh Grispi early last year at WEC 32. He took one fight under the Affliction banner while away, submitting Savant Young. He was originally scheduled to fight Georges St-Pierre teammate Yves Jabouin, who had to withdraw due to an undisclosed injury.

Caraway (14-3) is a newcomer to the WEC. He is currently on a three-fight winning streak that includes a victory on a Strikeforce Challengers event.

A title unification bout between current lightweight champion Jamie Varner and interim titleholder Ben Henderson heads WEC 46. Popular featherweight Urijah Faber (currently ranked No. 3 in the world) also makes his return on the hometown card. He faces No. 4 ranked Raphael Assuncao.
