MMAWeekly.com was in Hollywood, Fla., for the WEC 36 weigh-ins where several fighters had trouble making weight, chief among them were middleweight champion Paulo Filho and featherweight challenger Mike Brown.

Filho stepped on the scales at 192.5 pounds before weighing in at 192 without shorts for his title bout and rematch with Chael Sonnen. Filho was given two hours to cut seven pounds. It is a title match, so he has to weigh 185 exactly.

If Filho does not make it down to 185 pounds, then the fight could still possibly happen as a non-title affair. Florida State Boxing Commission executive director Tom Molloy told MMAWeekly.com that if Filho does not make weight, “That is up to the corners, what they want to do at that point.”

If both parties come to an agreement to accept the fight at a certain weight above 185 pounds, the bout can continue, but it would not be fore the title.

As far as penalties are concerned, Molloy said, “That would be decided upon once they make a decision.”

Mike Brown, who is slated to challenge WEC featherweight champion Urijah Faber, stepped on the scale at 146 pounds before stripping down to weigh in at 145.5. He also was given two hours to cut the half-pound.

One of the most anticipated bouts on the card features former UFC lightweight champion Jens Pulver against Leonard Garcia as the two try to narrow down the contenders for a featherweight title shot. Neither fighter had trouble making weight.

Rani Yahya tipped the scales at 137 pounds, but his opponent, Yoshiro Maeda, agreed to accept the fight at that weight, so Yahya didn’t have to cut the additional pound.
