Vitor “Shaolin” Ribeiro, currently ranked as the #6 Lightweight in the MMAWeekly Rankings, has been signed to fight for K-1 Hero’s in 2007, according to reports by Kid Pilegro of ADCC News. Details of the contract were not disclosed.

The 17-1 fighter was originally slated to debut for the promotion at the K-1 Hero’s 154-pound Grand Prix earlier this year, but was forced out due to an injury.

The sole loss on his record was delivered by Tatsuya Kawajiri, who is #3 in MMAWeekly’s lightweight rankings, more than two years ago. Since that time, Ribeiro has gone on a seven-fight win streak, most recently defeating Daisuke Nakamura at Cage Rage 19.

In exclusive comments with Pilegro, Ribeiro expressed his satisfaction, “This is the reward for all my efforts and good results over the year… it is signed, sealed and delivered and in 2007 I am going to be a part of one of the largest events in the World, K1. My son is my good luck charm!”
