Vanessa Porto Pulled from Invicta FC 10 After Delay in Obtaining Visa

November 21, 2014

Invicta Fighting Championships on Thursday announced that Vanessa Porto has been removed from her planned Invicta FC 10 bout with Roxanne Modafferi slated for Dec. 5 in Houston.

Porto is experiencing some unforeseen delays in the processing of her visa, so instead of waiting to see if the matter was cleared up at the last minute, Invicta FC officials made the decision to pull her from the bout.

Modafferi (16-11), however, will remain on the card, as she will now face 2013 Women’s National Golden Gloves champion Andrea Lee. Though she has just two bouts on her MMA resume, Lee won both, including her promotional debut against Shannon Sinn at Invicta FC 9 in November.

Porto is expected to return to the Invicta cage in early 2015 at Invicta FC 11.

Invicta FC 10 streams live on UFC Fight Pass from the Arena Theatre in Houston on Friday, Dec. 5, and is headlined by Invicta FC atomweight champion Michelle Waterson (12-3) taking on Brazilian challenger Herica Tiburcio (8-2). In the co-main event, bantamweight contender Tonya Evinger (14-5), coming off a first-round submission of Ediane Gomes, meets Belgium’s Cindy Dandois (5-1).
