UFC Singapore Attendance: Fight Night 34 Considered a Sellout

UFC Singapore Poster-red-478x270UFC Fight Night 34 accomplished a sellout with their effort at the Marina Bay Sands Resort in Singapore, according to UFC Asia Managing Director Mark Fischer.

The event garnered 5,216 spectators, who witnessed a memorable main event between Tarec Saffiedine and Hyun Gyu Kim.

“We had a packed house, a sellout,” Fischer said. “Thank you, Singapore, for supporting the first-ever [UFC event] in Southeast Asia.”

Saffiedine and Kim engaged in a stand-up war that saw the former take a unanimous decision over in the UFC’s first effort in Singapore. Kim needed assistance leaving the Octagon and was carried out by his corner, evidence of the leg kicks landed by Saffiedine throughout the winner of Fight of the Night.

In the co-main event, longtime Japanese standout Tatsuya Kawajiri was successful in his UFC debut with a rear-naked choke of Sean Soriano.

Fischer said at the post-fight news conference that the UFC doesn’t have a date in mind for a return to Singapore, but he closed the presser by saying, “We’ll see you again next year.”
