Ken Stone vs. Dustin Pague
Round 1: After a little dancing around, Stone tries a spinning backfist that just misses. Pague is going to work, attacking with inside leg kicks. Stone looks more comfortable than Pague on the feet, doing a good job working his jab, landing it frequently. Pague rushes in, backing Stone up with a straight right, but Stone fires back on his recovery before taking a low kick to the groin for a quick break in the action. Both fighters coe out firing after the break, Pague landing a good combination into an uppercut. Pague lands another good punch combo before going back to the leg kicks, but Stone fires back with a kick to the body just before the end of the round. MMAWeekly.com scores round one 10-9 for Pague.
Round 2: Touch of the gloves and they’re right back at it. After trading some strikes, Stone shoots in. They hit the mat briefly, but pop right back up, Stone still pressing Pague into the cage, trying to get him down with a single leg, but Pague has double-underooks defending. They stalemate and are restarted at the center of the Octagon. This time Pague takes a low kick to the groin. They trade punches briefly before Pague lands a spinning backfist. Stone is attacking, but Pague seems to have the better defense at this point, and is a little more accurate with his own attacks. Stone though lands a right hook. They tie up briefly, but quickly separate and start trading again, Stone edging ahead late in the round. Very, very close round, and a close fight through two. Round 3: Pague attacks the legs again, going both outside and inside. Pague then goes high with a kick, but Stone counters well with his boxing. Stone then clinches and presses Pague to the fence. Pague takes the leverage and tosses Stone to the mat, but Stone scrambles briefly onto Pague’s back and then finishes in top position in Pague’s closed guard. Stone is working his ground and pound from inside the guard, Pague also trying to fire punches and elbows off his back. Pague is searching for an opening for a submission, but Stone edges him up against the fence. Pague turns onto his knees and works back to his feet, Stone remaining clinched and pressing him into the fence, peppering him with knees to the body.
