Thiago Silva vs. Stanislov Nedkov
Round 1: Silv agressive from the get go, charges towards Nedkov with punches. He doesn’t land much, but Nedkov fires back, landing a couple combinations before clinching Silva on the fence. They trade knees to the thighs. Silva fires a high knee, but slips, gets back up and they slug it out for a brief time before Nedkov again clinches and presses Silva to the fence. Silva lands a knee to the chin, slipping out away from the fence. Huge low kick by Silva nearly takes Nedkov’s leg out from under him. He recovers and again presses Silva to the fence. Silva is now breathing very heavily, taking the time on the fence to try and recover. Nedkov keeps pressing and driving knees to his thighs. Silva gets a Thai clinch and lands a couple knees to the chest of Nedkov, but then they separate, Nedkov pressuring with punches. Nedkov presses Silva to the fence again, but Silva is the one landing both a mix of knees and punches. Nedkov is doing a good job wearing on Silva, but Silva is the one producing more disernable offense. MMAWeekly.com scores round one 10-9 for Silva.
Round 2: Silva lands a low kick to the groin to open round two. They pick it back up and Silva immediately starts kicking high. Nedkov charges in and again presses Silva up against the fence, but again, it is Silva landing short punches to the head while Nedkov continues just to press him against the fence. Silva lands a few knees to Nedkov’s legs, but there’s not enough action and the referee restarts them. Nedkov immediately goes right back to pressing Silva to the fence. Silva is firing short shots in retort, but can’t seem to get off the fence. Silva finally lands a couple knees to the midsection and gets off the fence. He then lands the right hand. Silva lands an inside kick, Nedkov complains that it’s again low, but the ref instructs them to fight on, not calling it a low blow. Nedkov again presses Silva to the fence, but Silva lands some solid knees to the thigh. Silva slips away as Nedkov tries to get him to the mat. Silva lands a kick to the body and follows with another inside leg kick. Big outside leg kick by Silva, but Nedkov answers with an overhand right that drops Silva to his back. Nedkov drops on top of him and lands several blows until the horn. MMAWeekly.com scores round two 10-9 for Nedkov.
Round 3: Silva landing a couple low kicks early, Nedkov putting the head down and trying to land that overhand right again. Silva, however, is answering with an array of kicks and punch combinations. Nedkov looks like his take just emptied. He’s staggeringly tired. Silva takes him to the mat, mounts Nedkov, and drops some heavy leather on him. Nedkov tries to tie him up, but Silva drops a couple elbows, opening Nedkov up for an arm-triangle choke. Silva locks it on, slips to the side to increase the pressure and finishes the fight, Nedkov tapping out!
