Riki Fukuda vs. Tom DeBlass
Round 1: Fukuda throws out a right hand, setting up a well-timed takedown, immediately putting DeBlass on his back against the fence. Fukuda starts up a ground and pound attack, but DeBlass does a good job positioning himself to escape back to his feet. They trade a few blows, each trying to find his range, DeBlass starting to edge ahead slightly, before receiving a poke to the eye. Fukuda shoots a single-leg, but DeBlass deftly defends. Fukuda starts to get his stand-up going, mixing up his punches and kicks, setting up another takedown, planting DeBlass on his back and again grounding and pounding him until the horn. Round 2: DeBlass gets off a couple good punches, but Fukuda presses him to the fence, kneeing him from the Thai clinch. They separate, DeBlass trying to find a home for his powerful straight right. Fukuda doing a good job chopping away at DeBlass’ lead leg, but he’s eating some of those DeBlass right hands in counter. Fukuda again gets the Thai clinch and lands several knees. They separate and DeBlass goes back to throwing the straight right hand in combination . Fukuda eats a couple, but again presses DeBlass to the fence. They separate, but Fukuda is staying aggressive, continually moving forward, landing punch combinations and mixing in the ocassional kick.MMAWeekly.com scores round two 10-9 for Fukuda.
Round 3: Fukuda lands a kick to the midsection, follows with a punch combination, staggering DeBlass to the fence. He presses with some knees and dirty boxing before once again planting DeBlass on his back. Fukuda again starts up the ground and pound, DeBlass doing a good job keeping him close so that he can’t open up with any big shots. The pace slows and the referee stands them up. DeBlass knows he’s got to be down on the scorecards and starts punching immediately, but seems to tire a bit. Fukuda takes advantage landing a couple hard punches in combination before pressing DeBlass to the cage. They come off the fence and Fukuda scores with a few more punch combinations and body kicks before the final horn. MMAWeekly.com scores round three 10-9 and the fight 30-27 for Fukuda.
