Alex Caceres vs. Motonobu Tezuka
Round 1: Caceres immediately works to establish his jab and lead leg side kick. Tezuka shoots and eventually gets Caceres to the mat, quickly passing to side control. Tezuka traps Caceres’ right arm and lands some short shots, but despite the arm being trapped and Tezuka in side control, referee Marc Goddard sees fight to stand them up. Tezuka shoots another takedown, but Caceres defends and starts trying to punch a downed Tezuka. Tezuka snags one of Caceres’ legs, but Caceres works it free and lands a few punches before the bell. Round 2: Tezuka lands a few low kicks to Caceres’ lead leg before timing the takedown and putting Caceres on his back. Tezuka lands a little bit of ground and pound, but Caceres doesn’t take long to escape and return the fight to standing. Tezuka shoots another single-leg, but Caceres defends it. Round 3: Tezuka opens the round by dropping Caceres with a punch. Caceres immediately returns to his feet, but Tezuka presses him to the cage. They separate and Caceres gets a few of his own shots in, but they’re mostly one-off shots that get Tezuka’s attention, but don’t do much damage. Tezuka shoots another takedown attempt, but Caceres defends and goes back to working his jab, which he does for the final two minutes of the fight, showing no sense of urgency. Tezuka scores another takedown in the final seconds, but there’s little time left for either fighter to make anything of it.
