UFC Fight Night: Shields vs. Ellenberger Official for Sept 17 in New Orleans

Jake Shields

The main event for the UFC’s card in New Orleans is now official with the show now named UFC Fight Night: Shields vs. Ellenberger.

The headlining bout will pit former UFC welterweight title contender Jake Shields against Jake Ellenberger in the headline spot for the card.

The UFC made the bout official on Friday.

Shields returns to action for the first time since losing his bid to become the UFC’s welterweight champion, losing by unanimous decision to Georges St-Pierre at UFC 129.

The Cesar Gracie black belt was the winner of 15 fights in a row before dropping the fight to GSP.

Looking to get a title shot of his own down the road, Jake Ellenberger steps up to face Shields after challenging him virtually non-stop since he stepped foot in the UFC.

Ellenberger is a winner of four fights in a row in the UFC, and hopes to cement his spot as a top ten fighter with a win over Shields.

The bout between Shields and Ellenberger will headline the Sept 17 card that takes place at the New Orleans Convention Center in New Orleans.
