UFC Fight Night Dublin Gate and Attendance: Sold Out Audience Produces $1.4 Million Gate

UFC Dublin McGregor vs Brandao Fight Poster-redPrior to Saturday, the Ultimate Fighting Championship hadn’t run an event in Ireland for more than five years. In the case of Irish fight fans, absence certainly did make the heart grow fonder.

UFC Fight Night 46: McGregor vs. Brandão took place on Saturday at the O2 in Dublin and it certainly delivered both in the Octagon and out of it.

According to UFC president Dana White, the event drew an audience of 9,500 fans, producing a live gate of $1.4 million U.S.

Several Irish born fighters and fighters with Irish ties did very well on the night, but none were more so impressive than co-main event fighter Gunnar Nelson and headliner Conor McGregor.

Nelson was born in Iceland, but trains alongside McGregor under the tutelage of famed Irish trainer John Kavanagh. He remained undefeated by choking out Zak Cummings in the second round of their fight.

McGregor lived up to all expectations, even his own, by also making quick work of Brandão, who looked to be on his game. Regardless, McGregor toppled Brandão, finishing him via TKO stoppage at 4:05 of the first round.
