Takeya Mizugaki vs. Erik Perez

Round 1: Miugaki comes out swinging, landing some punch combinations, showing little respect for Perez’s striking. He comes forward again, eating a few punches to fire off several of his own. Perez tries a couple jumping knees that miss. Mizugaki keeps swinging, but Perez gets him to the mat and pins him up against the fence. Mizugaki remains calm and eventually works the fight back to standing. They’re not on the feet long, however, as Perez again takes Mizugaki to the mat. Mizugaki escapes to standing and then takes Perez down and quickly takes his back. Perez stands, but Mizugaki stays on him and fires off a couple of knees. Perez answers with a knee of his own and tries to drag Mizugaki down again, but they end the round on the fence. MMAWeekly scores the round 10-9 for Mizugaki

Round 2: A few feints from both men to start off the second stanza, but Mizugaki is still throwing caution to the wind and swinging for the fences with every punch. He lands, but Perez answers with a couple hard shots of his own. Perez shoots, but Mizugaki shucks him off and just keeps moving forward. He launches a knee, but Perez moves into a clinch. They quickly separate and start trading blows again, Mizugaki landing a little more frequently than Perez. Mizugaki shoots, but it doesn’t go anywhere and Perez answers that with a looping right hand that makes Mizugaki take notice. Mizugaki gathers himself and lands a couple hard shots, bloodying the nose of Perez. Perez shoots again, but Mizugaki defends well. They separate and Mizugaki lands a stiff right hand. Perez again misses with the jumping knee. Perez shoots at the end of the round, but again Mizugaki stuffs the attempt. MMAWeekly scores the round 10-9 for Mizugaki

Round 3: Mizugaki firing the big guns again to start off the final round. Perez is answering, but not with the same accuracy or power as Mizugaki. Perez fires off a kick, but Mizugaki catches it and drives Perez to the mat, allowing him back to his feet almost immediately. They trade a few more shots before the fight goes back down and Mizugaki takes control, moving to Perez’s back, locking in a deep rear naked choke. Perez somehow works his way out of the choke and reverses position, Mizugaki up against the fence, but climbing back to his feet. Mizugaki reverses and pins Perez against the fence in a standing clinch, where they trade knees and punches until the final horn. MMAWeekly scores the round 10-9 and the fight 30-27 for Mizugaki
