Mario Miranda vs. Aaron Simpson
Round 1: Simpson comes in with a flurry and the two end up in clinch against the cage. Crowd behind press row is in heavy support of Miranda. The two separate, only to end up in another clinch. Both fighters staying busy and Simpson gets the trip takedown. Simpson is holding on tight, but Miranda is able to get back to the feet. Against the cage, Simpson gets Miranda down and controls his back, landing knees to the side after transitioning to that position. Simpson gets Miranda to his back again and he’s working from half guard, landing short punches and elbows. The round ends with Simpson controlling a majority of the opening stanza. 10-9 Simpson.
Round 2: More from Simpson working to clinch and takedown his opponent. He gets Miranda down and controls his back, filling gaps with short strikes and knees. Simpson is rarely allowing Miranda to get up, and when he does, he gets huge slams. A minute left in the round and the two are pressed against the fence in a clinch. Simpson still sneaking in short strikes every so often from the clinch. A quick takedown before the round ends and Simpson takes it 10-9.
Round 3: A quick clinch leads to an attempted hip toss by Miranda, but no luck there. Simpson has him in the clinch again and scores another takedown. Back to the feet and Miranda is pressed against the fence again. Another slam by Simpson. Simpson working from half guard and Miranda is trying to spin out of it. They get back to the feet and Simpson has still not released his clinch, slamming Miranda yet again. The crowd loves the slams. The final round ends and MMAWeekly.com scores it 30-27. Judges?
