The date and venue for the UFC’s third show in Singapore is finally official.
The event is set for the Singapore Indoor Stadium on June 23 and, as previously announced, it will be headlined by a welterweight bout between Donald Cerrone and Leon Edwards.
Cerrone (33-10-0-1) is known for the frequency with which he fights, as well as the entertaining nature of these contests. He recently snapped a three-match losing skid with a first-round stoppage win over Yancy Medeiros.
Edwards (14-3) is a former BAMMA 170-pound champion, who is riding a five-fight winning streak. The Jamaican-born welterweight is currently ranked at No. 14 by the UFC, while Cerrone is three places higher at No. 11.
The event will be the UFC’s first in Asia this year and the second to take place in the Singapore Indoor Stadium. The card will also feature Japanese welterweight Shinsho Anzai, Filipino flyweight Jenel Lausa, Japanese flyweight Naoki Inoue, and Chinese strawweight Yan Xiaonan.
Anzai (10-2) faces Jake Matthews (13-3), Lausa (7-4) takes on Ashkan Mokhtarian (13-3), Inoue (11-0) goes up against Matt Schnell (11-4), while Xiaonan (8-1) is matched with Nadia Kassem (5-0).
The card also features a light heavyweight bout that pits Ovince Saint Preux (22-11) against Tyson Pedro (7-1) and a women’s flyweight match between Jessica Eye (12-6) and Jessica Rose Clark (8-4), who is one of five Australian fighters currently on the card.
