The Ultimate Fighting Championship is finally making its way to New Zealand. UFC Auckland: Te Huna vs. Marquardt takes place on Saturday at Vector Arena in Auckland.
The headline bout features former Strikeforce welterweight champion Nate Marquardt‘s return to middleweight, as he squares up against James Te Huna. The New-Zealand-born Te Huna is dropping down from light heavyweight to make his 185-pound debut.
The co-main event features Aussie Soa Palelei and Jared Rosholt in a heavyweight battle.
The fighters stepped on the scales on Friday in Auckland to make their bouts official.
“It’s an honor. I love it here,” said Marquardt. “I’m used to not being the home town guy.”
“Just proud to represent my country,” said Te Huna.
