The Ultimate Fighting Championship makes its first trip to the Philips Arena in Atlanta on Saturday night. The main event is a light heavyweight feature bout between former champion Chuck Liddell and Ultimate Fighter Season 2 winner Rashad Evans.

Liddell and Evans were first scheduled to fight on June 7 at UFC 85 in London. Evans had stepped in to face “The Iceman” when Liddell’s original opponent, Mauricio “Shogun” Rua, had to withdraw due to a knee injury. A subsequent injury to Liddell and several mis-starts with replacements saw Evans eventually withdrawn from the card as well.

The two will finally meet on Saturday night at UFC 88 to narrow down the list of contenders to current UFC light heavyweight champion Forrest Griffin.

In other action at UFC 88, Rich Franklin, running into a middleweight roadblock named Anderson Silva, returns to the 205-pound division to face Ultimate Fighter alumnus Matt Hamill. Nate Marquardt and Martin Kampmann jockey for position in the queue to challenge Silva for his UFC gold. Dan Henderson works to retain his position as a contender in the middleweight division, while his opponent, Rousimar Palhares, looks to take Henderson’s place in line for a title shot.
