ANAHEIM, CALIF. – The fighters for UFC 76 weighed in Friday at the Honda Center in Anaheim, Calif. Former UFC light heavyweight champion Chuck Liddell and opponent Keith Jardine, the main event Saturday night, both easily made weight.

The same could not be said for Jon Fitch, however, who weighed in 1 pound over the acceptable limit of 171 pounds for his welterweight fight with Diego Sanchez. Fitch did make weight a short time later, not needing the one hour he was given to lose the necessary pound.

The fight between Anthony Johnson and Rich Clementi was agreed upon to be at a catch weight of 177 pounds, evidently due to Johnson not being able to come down to the 170-pound welterweight limit.

Following the weigh-ins, Liddell told UFC commentator Joe Rogan that he is expecting a tough fight with Jardine. “He’s a tough guy, it’s gonna’ be a fun fight. I’m gonna’ hit him hard.”

Jardine, who entered in Liddell’s shadow to a chorus of boos, responded to a question about being counted out by many pundits, “I’m not going to back down from anybody.”

The star of the weigh-ins was Mauricio “Shogun” Rua, who was showered with chants of “Shogun! Shogun!” as he made his way to the scale.
