The Ultimate Fighting Championship returned to Los Angeles this week for UFC 199: Rockhold vs. Bisping 2 on Saturday at The Forum. It was the promotion’s first foray in the historic venue, which is the former home of the NBA’s Los Angeles Lakers and the NHL’s Los Angeles Kings.
The night produced some miraculous finishes and dominating performances for the 15,587 people in attendance. That sold-out crowd accounted for a live gate of $2,168,675.
The main event was a rematch between Luke Rockhold and Michael Bisping. Rockhold won their first fight, but with the middleweight title on the line on Saturday night, Bisping stepped up on short notice to score a first-round knockout and take the belt.
There was little drop-off in the co-main event with bantamweight champion Dominick Cruz routing Urijah Faber to win his second unanimous-decision victory over the former WEC champion.
