Round 2: Nijem lands his jab to start the second round. Ferreira responds with a right hand. Ferreira catches Nijem with a straight right hand as Nijem moved in. Nijem is hurt. He looks to get the fight to the ground. Ferreira applies a guillotine choke. He drops down to secure it, but Nijem pops his head out and gains top position. He works inside Ferreira’s full guard. Nijem decides to stand and let Ferreira up. Ferreira catches Nijem again as he was moving forward and Nijem’s legs give out. He collapses to the canvas. Ferreira follows him down and finishes with follow up shots on the ground forcing referee Herb Dean to stop the fight.

I fought really hard and got a win over a really tough guy, so I’m very excited right now. Being undefeated doesn’t mean as much anymore. I’m one of the best in the world, and it’s exciting to just be fighting here. The submission attempts were really close, but he escaped the first two. He was really tough. I felt tired, so I knew I needed to try something different and then I got the knockout. I want to say thank you to my coaches. I was working on my ground game, and also my striking. I’m going to get back in the gym as soon as I can. I might take two or three days off for vacation, but I want to get back into the cage as soon as possible.
