April 26, 2014

Luke-Rockhold-SF0409_7394-478x270Luke Rockhold made quick work of Tim Boetsch, gaining the submission in the first round of their main card fight at UFC 172 in Baltimore on Saturday.

Rockhold said following the fight that he wants to earn his UFC middleweight title shot, saying the best way to go about that is by taking on Vitor Belfort in a rematch.

“I want to get back, I want to get a title shot,” Rockhold said in his post-fight interview. “If the UFC will grant me Vitor, I want my rematch. I want to earn my title shot. What better guy to beat than Vitor?”

After Boetsch shot in for a takedown and the two scrambled onto the ground. Rockhold locked on a triangle with the legs.

The Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt transitioned to lock on the kimura, forcing Boetsch to tap out at 2:08 of the opening round.

Rockhold, while adamant that Belfort is his most desired next fight, added that he would also accept a fight with Michael Bisping.
