Gian Villante vs. Ovince St. Preux

Round 1: They meet in the middle of the cage.  Villante lands a hard inside leg kick.  St. Preux answers with a kick to the body.  Villante catches a St. Preux kick and drives him to the fence. They work some dirty boxing and separate.  St. Preux moves in with punches.  Villante lands another inside leg kick.  St. Preux presses forward with a right hand.  St. Preux moves in with a flurry.  He lands a right hand and another.  Villante may be hurt.  Villante ties him up.  St. Preux lands a knee to the body and backs away.  St. Preux rushes in and Villante ties him up and works for a takedown.  St. Preux shakes it off.  St. Preux changes levels looking for a takedown.  Villante has none of it and lands an elbow on the break.  St. Preux lands a right hand.  The round ends.  MMAWeekly scores the round 10-9 for St. Preux.

Round 2: Villante lands a hard leg kick as St. Preux was throwing a leg kick and it sweeps St. Preux’ legs.  He immediately bounces back to his feet.  St. Preux lands a right hand.  Villante continues to land leg kicks.  St. Preux has started checking the kicks.  Villante continues his leg attack.  St. Preux rushes in with a telegraphed takedown attempt.  Villante easily shakes it off.  St. Preux looks fatigued.  Villante lands another leg kick.  St. Preux lands a straight left hand as Villante moved in.  St. Preux goes to the body with a left hook.  Both men have slowed.  The round ends.  MMAWeekly scores the round 10-9 for Villante.

Round 3: St. Preux lands a left hand.  Villante moves in and gets poked in the eye.  The referee stops the fight because Villante said he can’t see.  Villante protests.  Villante expected time to recover from the poke.  The referee called time, asked him if he could see and then stopped the fight.  No doctor called in to check the eye or anything.  It was an accidental poke so it goes to the judges’ scorecards.

Ovince St. Preux wins by majority technical decision.  The scorecards read 30-28, 30-29, and 29-29.

    That ref needs his license pulled and suspended until he takes a referee class. First he should have never stopped the fight in the first to cut tape, that could have waited til the end of the round. Second, well we all know.
