Rony Jason vs. Sam Sicilia
Round 1: Jason goes high, missing with a head kick and slips, missing Sicilia’s followup. Back on his feet, Jason rocks Sicilia with a hard shot, staggering his fellow TUF alum. Sicilia recovers, but gets rocked again by Jason, driving a knee up the middle. Sicilia responds with a takedown, landing in Jason’s full guard. Jason is very active off his back, trying to secure an armbar. Sicilia stands briefly, but then dives in landing a solid shot of his own. Jason goes for another armbar, can’t sink it and Sicilia counters with a big right hand and drops a few hammerfists before the ref, again with lightening quickness, stands them back up. The referee is Fernando Yamasaki, by the way. Jason lands a left kick to the body then jumps and lands a flying knee to the chest. Sicilia moves in with a leaping uppercut, but Jason counters and then lands a front kick to the body. Jason lands a looping right hand, but Sicilia fires back with an uppercut. They trade heavy blows for a moment, neither gaining the upper hand. Jason then lands an uppercut, again hurting Sicilia just before the horn. MMAWeekly.com scores round one 10-9 for Jason.
Round 2: Sicilia lands the first blow of the round, a right hand, but doesn’t appear to have hurt Jason at all. Following some feinting and slipping, Sicilia lands a hard right hand to the body and follows with a couple kicks to the body. Sicilia gaining some ground, landing a few more punches to the body. Jason smiles, but has slowed down considerably in round two. Sicilia just keeps plugging away, looking for the occasional home run, but is more successful just landing some shots to the body. Jason finally lands a hard knee, but Sicilia answers back with a couple hard shots of his own, a right hook and a kick to the body. Scilia wings a few punches, but Jason digs a couple hard lefts to the body. Sicilia fires back, but Jason drops Sicilia with a counter, follows him down and finishes off the fight with some hammerfists for the TKO stoppage.
