Marcus Brimage vs. Maximo Blanco
Round 1: Blanco takes the center of the Octagon, Brimage stalking him, looking for an opening for his punches. Brimage lands a couple hard shots early, but they’re just one-off strikes. About two minutes in, Brimage lands a good combination, mixing it up from head to body. He drives Blanco into the cage, mixing a knee in with his punches. Blanco finally scores a takedown, but Brimage is right back to his feet. Blanco is back in the center of the Octago, Brimage moving in and out, landing a few shots here and there, while Blanco has done little to mount any offense. Round 2: Brimage opens with a different look, landing a left leg-kick. Blanco throws a kick of his own, catching Brimage with a front kick and then follows a short time later with a round kick to the head. Brimage answers back with a jumping knee that backs Blanco up, but both fighters recover quickly and take the center of the Octagon again. Blanco lands a couple more kicks, but eats a Brimage counter left hand in return. Blanco lands a right hook on a charging Brimage. Blanco is scoring much better this round, landing more of his strikes, while Brimage has slowed down a bit, looking a little more wary of Blanco’s striking. Blanco lands a couple good counter shots of his own as the round closes, punctuated by a front kick to the stomach. MMAWeekly.com scores round two 10-9 for Blanco
Round 3: Brimage lands a couple of leg kicks early in the round, the second of which puts Blanco briefly on the mat. Blanco shoots a takedown, but Brimage sprawls it out, keeping the fight on the feet, then charges in with a solid punch combination to the head. They spend the middle portion of the round with neither landing much, but Brimage really pushes the pace as the fight dwindles down to the last minute, landing a few shots before they separate again, dancing in the middle of the cage. Blanco misses on another takedown attempt. Brimage chases Blanco to the bell, but neither lands much before the bell. MMAWeekly.com scores round three 10-9 and the fight 29-28 for Brimage
