Mac Danzig vs. Efrain Escudero

Round 1: Danzig clinches, but eats some knees from Escudero. Danzig presses him to the cage and lands some good body hooks. Escuero trades position, but it is Danzig maintaining control of the clinch. Escudero lands a good Thai elbows, but Danzig trips him to the mat. Escurdero ties up a heel hook, but Danzig gets out and spins around to Escudero’s back, taking control. Escudero gets out and takes fight back to the feet. Danzig lands some good boxing combinations, and gets his jab working. Escudero tries to tie him up, but Danzig lands an uppercut to break the hold, then follows with several shots to the head and body before pressing Escudero to the cage. Danzig gets the body lock on from behind Escudero, but can’t get him to the mat. They clinch along the cage again, Danzig edging ahead with some solid knees to the body mixed in with some dirty boxing. MMAWeekly.com scores round one 10-9 for Danzig.

Round 2: Danzig comes out pushing the pace, trying to get his boxing going immediately, but doesn’t land much early, although he does land a solid kick. They tie up on the fence again, Danzig landing some solid knees. Neither is landing a lot midway through the round, but Danzig is controlling where the fight goes, landing a few one-off punches, and two-punch combinations. They clinch up with a minute and a half to go, Danzig again working body punches. Escudero answers with a leg kick, but seems out of rhythm this round. They tie up again with 30 seconds left, trading knees, but Danzig is the one pressing Escudero into the fence, making him carry his weight. MMAWeekly.com scores round two 10-9 for Danzig.

Round 3: Dnzig’s right ankle is swelling up to the size of  grapefruit, possible from Escudero’s heel hook attempt in round one. He comes out swinging in the final round however, not letting the ankle hamper him. He lands a solid punch combination with a body kick finishing it off then presses Escudero into the fence once again. They trade knees, but Danzig is also mixing in more short body shots.  Danzig slips around to Escudero’s back and grapevines his leg, but gives it up and returns to striking distance. Danizg ties up with Escudero again, and presses him to the fence. Again they trade knees, but the referee steps in and separates them. Danzig lands a hard two-part combo to the head that rocks Escudero and follows with a straight to the body. Danzig again clinches, with one minute left in the fight, and lands a couple knees to the body before separating and kicking Escudero’s lead leg. They end the round trading blows until the horn.
