Yuri Alcantara vs. Felipe Arantes (featherweight)
Round 1: Alcantara comes out firing, landing a couple punches and backing Arantes up. Arantes fires back with his explosive kicks, but Alcantara is keeping them in check. Alcantara is the stalker, pressing. He catches an Arantes kick, moves in and takes Arantes down. Alcantara starts some ground and pound from inside half guard, mixing up punches and elbows, rattling Arantes’ cage a bit before passing to side control. He tries for mount, but gets put back in half guard for his efforts. Arantes is now bleeding around his right eye. The pace slows and they get stood up. Round 2: Arantes presses the action from the bell, opening with several kicks before Alcantara figures out the timing, shoots, and takes Arantes to the mat, again landing in guard. Alcantara quickly passes to side control then transitions to full mount. Alcantara misses with the triangle attempt from mount. He recovers by standing up and dropping back down into Arantes’ full guard. The referee stands them up. They search for a time, Alcantara goes high with a kick, while Arantes returns with a jumping knee before Alcantara shoots and plants Arantes on his back once again. Round 3: Arantes immediately goes high with a kick again, but Alcantara times it well, catches and takes Arantes to the mat, immediately taking his back. Arantes quickly reverses into Alcantara’s full guard. Arantes unleashes some fairly heavy ground and pound. Arantes alternates between standing and diving back down into Alcantara’s guard, dropping heavy punches down each time he drops back to the mat. The pace slows and they get stood up. Arantes tries a flying knee, but Alcantara catches it and plants Arantes on his back again. He works some ground and pound, but as soon as the action slows, they get stood up again, with about 45 seconds left in the fight.
