BJ Penn vs Jon Fitch

The main card for UFC 127 was announced on Monday at a press conference in Australia, including the main event pitting Jon Fitch against B.J. Penn.

Fitch and Penn will square off in a welterweight contest that could have title implications down the line. Fitch is riding a five fight win streak, while Penn is coming off of a first round drubbing of former welterweight champion Matt Hughes in his last fight.

Also announced for the main card in Australia will be England’s own Michael Bisping as he faces tough as nails striker Jorge Rivera in a middleweight bout.

Welterweights Carlos Condit and Chris Lytle meet in a bout that’s been rumored for the past several weeks, and is now official. Condit and Lytle are both considered two of the most exciting fighters in the UFC, and fireworks are expected when these two meet in February.

The Australians will also be represented well on the main card at UFC 127 as George Sotiropoulos returns home for the second time and faces Dennis Siver in a lightweight match-up, while Aussie Kyle Noke faces off against former “Ultimate Fighter” housemate Chris Camozzi in a middleweight fight.

The UFC also announced two previously rumored undercard bouts with James Te Huna taking on Alexander Gustafsson and Anthony Perosh meeting Tom Blackledge at UFC 127 as well.
