Miguel Torres vs. Antonio Banuelos


Round 1: Banuelos is biding his time early, trying to find a way through the range of the much taller Torres. Torres is content to pick at Banuelos with a mix of kicks and his jab. Torres uses a series of jabs to set up a solid right leg kick midway thru the round. Banuelos is having a very tough time finding a way to the inside, but Torres isn’t being overly aggressive, picking away with single shots here and there. Banuelos misses with an overhand right towards the end of the round, but lands a solid left hook as a follow-up. Fairly slow pace for the opening round, ending in a chorus of boos. Round 2: Higher pace to start round two, both guys throwing one off strikes, neither gaining a clear advantage early. Torres using his jab more and more, but mostly as single punches, not really mountain many combinations. Banuelos using a lot of movement, but still having difficulty getting past Torres’ jab. Torres continues to peck away at Banuelos through the round, although Banuelos gets one good shot in before the bell. MMAWeekly.com scores round two 10-9 for Torres.

Round 3: Torres continues to peck away with his jab. Banuelos is trying to throw the home run blow, but can’t find his way to his target. In a Mayweather-esque style, Torres just continues to chip away at Banuelos’ face, but isn’t landing the big blow or combination to try and end the fight, although Banuelos is bleeding from the nose. Banuelos makes a last desperate attempt at the 10-second clacker, but can’t find the knockout. MMAWeekly.com scores round three 10-9 and the fight 30-27 for Torres.
