The Ultimate Fighting Championship is back in Montreal for its annual event at the Bell Centre. UFC 113: Machida vs. Shogun 2 features a rematch of a controversial bout that took place late last year, as light heavyweight champion Lyoto Machida attempts a second defense of his belt against Mauricio “Shogun” Rua.

To make the bouts official, the fighters on Friday stepped on the scales before a large contingent of fans at the home of the Canadiens with all fighters making weight, and a couple of intense staredowns happened as well.

Both challenger and champion made weight in the light heavyweight main event, and while Machida and Shogun acknowledged the controversial decision in their last fight, this time around they plan on leaving no question who the victor will be.

“It was a very controversial first fight, but that’s why we’re here tomorrow to see who’s going to walk out the real champion, and I believe I will,” said Machida.

His opponent sounded equally as confident, and believes it’s his time to walk out of the cage with the title belt around his waist.

“I got very disappointed with the judges decision last time, but I’m very well prepared to show that I’m the true champion in the light heavyweight class,” Shogun stated.

Co-main event fighters Josh Koscheck and Paul Daley had an intense staredown as to be expected, and Koscheck made sure to motion to the Brit that he would be going to sleep on Saturday night. Heayvweights Kimbo Slice and Matt Mitrione also went nose-to-nose for their staredown, and when they were separated, both fighters continued to lock eyes with the other, refusing to back away.
