Ricardo Almeida has long been rumored for the UFC 111 fight card scheduled for March 27 in Newark, N.J. Now he has an opponent to go with the date.

MMAWeekly.com sources on Tuesday morning said that the Renzo Gracie trained Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt will face Ultimate Fighter alumnus Matt Brown at the Prudential Center. ESPN’s MMA Live first reported the bout via it’s official Twitter account.

Almeida (11-3) has had a successful run since re-joining the ranks of the UFC in early 2008. He has amassed a 3-1 record in the promotion’s middleweight division since his return. The bout against Brown marks Almeida’s first drop down to the crowded welterweight division in the Octagon.

Brown (11-7) is currently riding a three-fight winning streak, totaling four wins to just one defeat since emerging from Season 7 of The Ultimate Fighter. His only loss in the Octagon is a split decision to Dong Hyun Kim.

UFC 111 features a championship double-header with UFC welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre defending against British star Dan Hardy, as well as former champion Frank Mir making another run at an interim title when he steps in with rising contender Shane Carwin.
