Twitter reacts to Max Holloway defeating Yair Rodriguez in slugfest at UFC Vegas 42

We were promised one heck of a main event and the UFC Vegas 42 fight between Max Holloway and Yair Rodriguez lived up to that promise.

The first round was full of incredible action with both fighters landing huge strikes on the other, the judges certainly had their work cut out for them. The second round was much like the fist with Rodriguez getting a slight edge on the former champion, but in round three Holloway took control. There were even two significant submission attempts from Holloway in the third.

In the fourth, we saw more of Holloway’s grappling as he dominated Rodriguez on the ground. In the fifth, Rodriguez’s corners called for a finish, knowing he was down on the scorecards.

The fans were going absolutely insane for the constant back and forth.

And they were right, it was a fight for the ages. Holloway earned the nod via unanimous decision, then called for Conor McGregor.

“To be the best, you have to beat the best and that’s blessed, let them come for me,” he said in his post-fight interview.

Here’s what Twitter thought of the bout.
