Former Ultimate Fighter winners Eddie Gordon and Antonio Carlos Junior will meet in a middleweight bout in Hollywood, Fla., on Saturday, June 27, both intent on getting back on track after recent setbacks.
The UFC on Tuesday announced the long-rumored bout, making it official.
Gordon (7-3) took a little over a minute to knockout Dhiego Lima in the TUF 19 middleweight final, but has struggled in the Octagon ever since. He enters the fight with Junior on the heels of back-to-back losses to Josh Samman and Chris Dempsey.
Having won the TUF Brazil 3 heavyweight tournament, Junior (4-1) has also found it difficult to gain any traction in the Octagon.
After defeating Vitor Miranda to win TUF, Junior lost a unanimous decision to Patrick Cummins in a light heavyweight bout to close out 2014.
He’ll now take the weight drop a step further, moving down to middleweight for the first time to try and secure his first victory under the UFC banner.
UFC Fight Night 70 features a five-round middleweight main event pitting Lyoto Machida vs. Yoel Romero. It also serves as the TUF Brazil 4 finale, which includes lightweight and bantamweight tournament finals.
