Yarennoka officials on Sunday officially announced that the previously scheduled bout between Gesias “JZ” Calvancante (ranked No. 6 ranked lightweight in the world by MMAWeekly.com) and Shinya Ayoki (ranked No. 5 in the lightweight division) has been canceled.

The bout was supposed to have taken place on the Dec. 31 event featuring a main event between Fedor Emelianenko and Hong Man Choi.

It was Calvancante that had to withdraw from the bout due to injury. He had an injured knee leading up to September’s Hero’s 154-pound tournament – which he ended up winning – re-injured it during the final bout against Andre “Dida” Amade and then tore a ligament recently while training.

According to Ayoki, he was told that his bout would still take place on New Year’s Eve, but no opponent has yet been named.

Aleksander Emelianenko and Ricardo Arona are also still rumored to be fighting on the card in separate bouts, but the organizers of the event have not announced the official participation or opponents for either.

The current Yarennoka fight card:

– Fedor Emelianenko vs. Choi Hong-Man
– Yoshihiro Akiyama vs. Kazuo Misaki
– Mitsuhiro Ishida vs. Gilbert Melendez
– Hayato “Mach” Sakurai vs. Hidehiko Hasegawa
– Tatsuya Kawajiri vs. Luiz Azeredo
– Murilo Bustamante vs. Makoto Takimoto
– Shinya Aoki vs. TBA
