Press Release

(MONTREAL, CANADA), January 5th, 2006 – TKO Major League MMA is excited to present the greatest international fight card in Canadian history! TKO 24: ERUPTION will take place on January 28th, 2006 at the Colisée de Laval and it will feature the very best Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) Athletes from around the globe! The event will also feature the TKO Super Lightweight Champion, Mark Hominick, the TKO Lightweight Champion, Sam Stout, and the TKO Heavyweight Champion, Icho Larenas, in the greatest tests of their careers.

MARK “The Machine” HOMINICK has been tearing through his opposition, exhilarating TKO fans with his hands of fury. Hominick is currently ranked as the seventh best super lightweight in the world and he adamantly states that he is eager to compete and prove himself against the best fighters in the world. NAOJI FUJIMOTO from Japan is a Pancrase veteran well-versed in both striking and in submissions. Fujimoto is ranked twenty-third in the world. He has been training intensely for this tremendous opportunity to fight the World Super Lightweight Champion in a TKO main event. As Fujimoto models his fighting style after Pancrase legend, Yuki Kondo, the fans can be certain that this fight is going to produce spectacular fireworks!

TKO Lightweight Champion, “Hands of Stone” SAM STOUT is on the cusp of making his UFC debut, but he has one very important thing left to do. Almost three years ago, in his professional debut, Stout was submitted by American submission stylist JAY ESTRADA. Stout has since gone on an eight fight winning streak which includes six spectacular knockouts! He feels that the time has come to make right what once went wrong. But, since their last encounter Estrada has continued to compile a very impressive record with victories over excellent opposition. He feels that Stout cannot handle a ground fighter of his caliber. Stout intends to prove him wrong and use him as a stepping stone to much bigger things. There will be more than belts on the line in this fight as the stakes couldn’t be any higher for these two exceptional fighters!

In an International Superfight of epic proportions, IVAN “Pride of El Salvador” MENJIVAR, ranked third in the world at super lightweight will clash with URIJAH “The California Kid” FABER, who is ranked sixth in the world! After three years of fighting in various promotions, Menjivar will make his return to the TKO ring where the prospects for him in the super lightweight division are endless. His first enormous challenge will come from the current KOTC Champion, Faber. Menjivar has never lost at 145lbs. Faber is coming off a very impressive submission victory over the Pride Fighting Championship’s superstar, Charles “Krazy Horse” Bennett. Both fighters have tremendous skills on the ground and standing. It will be “the Pride of El Salvador” against “the California Kid” in what should be one for the ages!

TKO Heavyweight Champion, ICHO LARENAS, makes his return to the ring since winning the championship in impressive fashion over Tompkins’ prodigy, Jacob Conliffe. Larenas intends to bring all of his aggression and ferociousness to the fray when he collides with fellow behemoth, BRIAN SCHALL. Schall is one of King of the Cage’s (KOTC) newest and most exciting fighters. TKO fans should be sure not to blink because these fighters love to strike and both have a habit of ending fights suddenly, violently and in jaw-dropping fashion!

TKO’s newest prodigy, the “Sydney Crosby of MMA”, CHRIS “The Polish Hammer” HORODECKI challenges another young and very talented fighter, DAVE “The Sensation” PARIZEAU. This is a match-up between two fighters, both with tremendous futures in the sport of MMA. They find themselves at similar points in their young careers. Both come into this fight on high notes as Horodecki knocked out former champion, Dave Goulet in a fight many consider the best of 2005 while Parizeau has managed to stop his last two opponents in impressive fashion. Only one will be able to continue upon their fast track up the lightweight ladder while the other will have to return to the drawing board.

FABIO HOLANDA shocked the Canadian MMA community in his last two visits to the TKO ring as he made quick work with two of Canada’s best lightweights: Kultar Gill and Blake Fredrickson! His only losses have been to three UFC veterans at the welterweight division before he decided to drop down to fight at lightweight. Holanda seems to only want to fight the best in the world and this fight is certainly no exception as he will face RICH CLEMENTI! Clementi has fought all over the world, including the UFC, and he holds very impressive victories over some of the biggest names in the lightweight division. The fans are going to receive an incredible treat when these two masterful technicians duel!

STEPHANE VIGNEAULT continues his impressive climb up the super lightweight ladder as he battles DAMACIO PAGE. Vigneault awed the fans in attendance at TKO 23, winning a very brutal and bloody war with Greg Compton. Page is a very exciting and highly touted fighter who trains with Brian Schall at Jackson’s Submission Fighting. Add this fight to the list of unbelievable lightweight action!

SAMUEL GUILLET opened many eyes in his last two very impressive performances. A prodigy of Fabio Holanda’s BTT Canada, Guillet is exceptional at submissions and he also proved that he has tremendous cardio and good striking. BLAKE FREDRICKSON is a young man on a mission to show the world what he’s capable of. He is widely regarded as one of Canada’s best lightweights and he is carrying a large chip on his shoulder from his last TKO appearance against Holanda. This is a fight between two very hungry, never say die competitors both looking to prove something.

TKO has been instrumental in developing some of the best fighters MMA has ever seen including: Georges St-Pierre, David Loiseau, Jonathan Goulet and Patrick Cote. The entire TKO organization is extremely proud of their success and lends their full support to St-Pierre and Loiseau in their upcoming quest to capture UFC Championships! TKO 24: ERUPTION has been specifically designed to test the future of Canadian MMA by placing them against some of the best fighters that the United States of America and Japan have to offer. The stage is now set to reveal to the world which of these fighters are ready to become international MMA superstars!
