The Ultimate Fighting Championship released the fighter bonuses from The Ultimate Fighter 19: Team Edgar vs. Team Penn on Sunday. Matt Van Buren, Daniel Spohn and Dhiego Lima took home the season awards.
The Fight of the Season went to Matt Van Buren and Daniel Spohn for their semifinal-round fight. The two engaged in a stand-up brawl that ended with Van Buren finishing Spohn with a furry of punches late in the second round to advance to the finals. It was the only knockout of the season.
Lima earned both Performance of the Season bonus awards for his two submission wins. He was the only fighter to win by submission during the season. He finished Tim Williams by rear-naked choke during their elimination-round bout, and submitted Roger Zapata via armbar during their semifinal-round match-up.
The awards were worth $25,000 each. Lima banked $50,000 in total bonus money.
