Strikeforce: Rockhold vs. Kennedy Weigh-in Results; Luke Rockhold Slightly Over (UPDATED)

Soaring in the shadows of its older sibling, the UFC, Strikeforce’s Rockhold vs. Kennedy isn’t drawing near the attention from fans and media that the UFC’s recent Anderson Silva vs. Chael Sonnen rematch did, but that doesn’t mean that there aren’t some solid fights on tap.

Strikeforce middleweight champion Luke Rockhold is slated to his belt on the line against former Green Beret Tim Kennedy in the main event, while Nate Marquardt returns to the cage to battle Tyron Woodley for the vacant welterweight strap.

The four championship fighters, as well as the rest of the Rockhold vs. Kennedy roster first weighed in Friday afternoon in Portland, Ore.

Kennedy had no issues, tipping the scale at 184.5 pounds, but Rockhold was over at 185.5 pounds. This being a title fight, they are required to hit the mark with no allowance for being even half a pound over.

Rockhold was given two hours to get down to 185 pounds, which shouldn’t be an issue for a fighter with his experience.

This marks Marquardt’s return after a year outside the cage and a drop to welterweight. He had no trouble hitting the mark, weighing in at 169.5 pounds, as did his opponent, Tyron Woodley.
