SEOUL, SOUTH KOREA – Spirit MC 12 took place this past weekend in Seoul, South Korea. The event was highlighted by four bouts of the Spirit MC Heavyweight Grand Prix tournament and a main event featuring Kwang Hee Lee and A Sol Kwon.

(In Spirit MC, the heavyweight class comprises fighters weighing 80kg/176lbs or more.)

Originally a three-round bout, Lee and Kwon fought to a draw initially. In the overtime round, Lee hit Kwon with a hard shot to the body and then followed up with several more strikes causing the referee to stop the bout.

Opening up the Grand Prix matches, Ryuichi Murata wasted no time in swarming Dong Woo Shin with punches, overwhelming him and finishing Shin off by knockout in just 18 seconds.

Kelvin Fitial, Jae Young Kim, and Jung Gyu Choi all won their Grand Prix matches as well, joining Murata for the semi-final and final rounds on October 14th. The winner of the final will then move on to fight Spirit MC Heavyweight Champion Denis Kang later in the year, according to Spirit MC.
