MMAWeekly has learned that Chael Sonnen is headed to UFC 60 to fight Jeremy Horn now that Evan Tanner is out of the fight. Sonnen will be fighting Horn for a third time on short notice at UFC 60 in Los Angeles on May 27th.

Tanner was supposed to be fighting Horn, but three people that MMAWeekly spoke with on Tuesday all confirmed that Evan Tanner was battling personal problems and issues, and will not be fighting at the end of the month.

Sonnen will try to beat the odds and defeat Horn in their third-match up. Sonnen faced the same scenario last month when he fought Trevor Prangley.

Sonnen decisively beat the odds in his last UFC appearance by winning a unanimous decision against the highly touted Trevor Prangley at Ultimate Fight Night 4 on April 6th. Sonnen had lost to Prangley twice before, once as an amateur and once as a pro, before winning his third meeting.

Sonnen previously took two fights on short notice against Horn in 2004 and lost both fights. One of the fights was in the Extreme Challenge promotion, and the other was in the SportFight promotion.

However, both of those fights took place before Sonnen was a “full-time fighter.” Sonnen believes that he is in the same frame of mind for the Horn fight as he was for the Prangley fight, and feels that he can beat Horn this time around just like he defeated Prangley.

Chael will join the guys on MMAWeekly Radio on Wednesday to talk about his upcoming fight.
