Peralta vs. Semerzier

An accidental headbutt lead to the finish in the fight between Mackens Semerzier and Robert Peralta, but today the California State Athletic Commission overturned the decision to a no contest.

Brian Butler of Suckerpunch Entertainment, who represents Semerzier, confirmed the news with on Tuesday.

Semerzier fought Peralta on the UFC on Fox 1 undercard in November, and originally the fight ended by TKO with Peralta being given the win.

Upon replay however, it was shown that a clash of heads is what rattled Semerzier in an exchange with Peralta that led to the fight coming to an end.

Butler immediately filed an appeal with the commission and on Tuesday met with them to discuss the situation.

The final verdict was the fight being ruled a no contest due to the accidental headbutt.

It’s likely that Semerzier and Peralta will get a chance at a second go round in the Octagon after the way the first fight ended, but the UFC has yet to officially match up the two fighters for a rematch yet.
