Middleweight Sean Strickland it out of his scheduled October 15 main event bout against Jared Cannonier. UFC president Dana White broke the news on Tuesday during the Dana White’s Contender Series Week 6 Post-fight Press Conference.
Over the weekend, Strickland posted a video to his Instagram account from the hospital. He explained that he injured his finger and an infection set in and was about to undergo ‘minor’ surgery.
“I don’t know what the f**k happened. Camp was going really f**king good. I had a hard sparring on Thursday. I woke up on Friday and go, you know what, my finger is a little sore. Throughout the day I was like, my finger is f**ked, so I went to the hospital,” he said. “It turns out I have a really bad infection.”
