Sara McMann topped Alexis Davis in their main card bout at the The Ultimate Fighter 24 Finale in Las Vegas on Saturday.
McMann showed her sheer strength, locking on a tight arm triangle for the submission win at 2:52 of the second round.
McMann’s strikes came heavy and crisp early on, hitting Davis with several shots before securing a takedown in the opening round. From her back, Davis stayed active with her opponent in her guard, landing several elbows through the end of the round to build up an early lead in the total strikes department.
Davis let her hands fly in the second round, but they didn’t soar for long. After eating a combination, McMann closed the distance and executed a perfect hiptoss to bring the fight to the ground. Davis attempted from her back to attack her foe’s legs, but McMann worked herself out of danger before advancing position. Breaking through Davis’ halfguard, McMann worked into the arm triangle that signaled the ending moments. Davis fought it off as hard as she could, but was forced to tap and bring the finish to the bout.
With the win at the TUF 24 Finale, McMann improves her record to 10-3 and is on a two-fight win streak since losing to current UFC women’s bantamweight champion Amanda Nunes in August 2015.
