Ryan LaFlare Out, Zak Cummings in Against Gunnar Nelson at UFC Fight Night Dublin

May 28, 2014

Zak CummingsIcelandic fighter Gunnar Nelson had intended to face red-hot undefeated fighter Ryan LaFlare at UFC Fight Night 46 in Dublin, but LaFlare has had to withdraw due to an undisclosed issue, according to UFC officials.

Zak Cummings, however, has already agreed to step in for him and fight Nelson.

Nelson (12-0-1) has won all three of his fights in the Octagon. Slowly working his way up the welterweight ladder, Nelson is coming off of a Performance of the Night effort in his victory over Omari Akhmedov in March.

Cummings (17-3) won a unanimous decision over Yan Cabral earlier this month in Cincinnati, so he’s making a quick turn to face Nelson. Cummings has performed well since arriving in the UFC, however, dropping down to the 170-pound division and winning both of his bouts in the Octagon.

UFC Fight Night Dublin is headlined by brash Irishman Conor McGregor in a heated fight with Cole Miller. The event takes place on July 19 at The O2 in Dublin.
