Rafael dos Anjos UFC 197 04 750x370dos Anjos (25-8) recently had a five-fight winning streak ended and lost the UFC lightweight championship when Eddie Alvarez upset him at UFC Fight Night 90 in Las Vegas. dos Anjos had reeled off victories over Jason High, Benson Henderson, Anthony Pettis, Nate Diaz, and Donald Cerrone prior to the first-round TKO loss to Alvarez.

With the belt now around Alvarez’s waist, dos Anjos hopes to earn his way back to a title shot by defeating the No. 3 ranked fighter in the division.

Having won The Ultimate Fighter 13, Ferguson (21-3) has only one blemish on his record during his five-year UFC tenure. His lone defeat was at the hands of Michael Johnson four years ago. Ferguson has since won eight consecutive bouts, including wins over the likes of Edson Barboza and former Strikeforce champion Josh Thomson.

A victory over dos Anjos would likely put him next in line for a shot at the title.
