Let the battle begin. The two biggest Japanese promotions square off against each other. In Tokyo, Pride has their huge New Years Eve card going head to head with K1.

Hayato Sakurai vs Takanori Gomi – This will be a great fight for the Lightweight Championship. Sakurai has done some great things since moving from the 170 weight class. He will try to show the world that he is stronger than Takanori Gomi who has been the most dominant fighter at 155 this past year.

Murilo Bustamante vs Dan Henderson – In a rematch which some thought was controversial, Dan Henderson and Murilo Bustamante square off the new 185 pound title. Bustamante believes a head butt was the difference in the fight. Henderson said it was his fists that caused the KO. The anticipated rematch takes place this weekend.

Ricardo Arona vs Wanderlei Silva – Arona shocked many when he beat Silva in the Grand Prix. Now Wanderlei looks to regain his dominant form in a rematch for Silva’s title.

Mark Hunt vs Mirko Cro Cop – To K-1 veterans fight in an MMA match this weekend. Will Cro Cop choose to stand and bang, or will he try to take Hunt down?

Fedor Emelianenko vs. ‘Zuluzinho’ – Can you say mismatch?

Hidehiko Yoshida vs. Naoya Ogawa – A good Japanese battle between Yoshida and Ogawa.

Kazushi Sakuraba vs Ikuhisa Minowa – Sakuraba and Minowa is a very interesting battle between two fighters who are very similar in weight. Should be a good scientific match this weekend.

Makoto Takimoto vs Sanae Kikuta – Once again two Japanese fighters that will make the Tokyo crowd happy whomever can pull of the win.

Yuki Kondo vs Kazuhiro Nakamura – This is a very technical battle as both fighters are looking to bounce back with wins.

Pawel Nastula vs Aleksander Emelianenko – Maybe the sleeper of the night. Emelianenko takes a major step in the heavyweight picture and the same could be said for Nastula if he can pull of the win.

Giant Silva vs James Thompson – The two giants will do battle. Thompson has to win this fight if he wants to move up in Pride. A loss would be catastrophic at this point of his career.
