After making her UFC debut at UFC Fight Night 57 on the Fight Pass-streamed undercard, women’s strawweight Paige VanZant became on overnight sensation.
She’s become a highly sought after interview. On Monday, she inked a deal with Reebok, joining Jon Jones, Ronda Rousey, Anthony Pettis, Johny Hendricks, and Conor McGregor as the only fighters on the roster to have signed an individual endorsement deal with the apparel brand.
The 20-year-old is scheduled to face eighth-ranked Felice Herrig on the UFC on Fox 15 main card on April 18. She believes she has nothing to lose.
“I don’t have anything to lose. Obviously, I have a lot to prove, but I don’t have anything to lose,” VanZant recently told MMAWeekly.com. “I’m going to go out there and do my best and whatever happens, great.”
While Herrig has three times more experience than VanZant, “12 Gauge” believes Herrig is a predictable fighter.
“She has a very strong Muay Thai game. That’s kind of what she’s been known for, but I do think she’s a predictable fighter,” she said.
“She’s been around for a very long time, so she’s kind of got her style set in stone, whereas I’m very young, obviously. I can still change my style. I have a lot to learn, and she’s not going to know what’s coming for her.”
