ATLANTA – The Ultimate Fighting
Championship makes its first trip to the Philips Arena in Atlanta on Saturday
night. The main event is a light heavyweight feature bout between former
champion Chuck Liddell and Ultimate Fighter Season 2 winner Rashad Evans.

With the notable exception of Karo
Parisyan and Yoshiyuki Yoshida – the bout was scrapped due to a reported
last-minute back injury to Parisyan – all of the other fighters on the
card made weight without trouble.

Liddell made weight at 204 pounds and
says that he is not looking past Evans for a return shot to get UFC gold back around
his waist. "There's no way to look past a guy like (Rashad)," he said. "He's a
great fighter. I want my title back, don't get me wrong, but we'll deal with
that later."

Evans had little to say about the fight
other than to convey his excitement. "I'm as excited as hell man," he told UFC
commentator Joe Rogan. "I get to fight Chuck Liddell. I get to go out there and
leave it all out there."

Despite his inability to overcome UFC
middleweight champion Anderson Silva in two attempts, Rich Franklin is still a
popular fighter as he moves back up to the light heavyweight division in
Atlanta. As he made weight – at 204.5 pounds – to face Ultimate
Fighter alumnus Matt Hamill, Franklin received one of the stronger ovations
from the crowd that gathered for the weigh-ins at Philips Arena.

According to MMAWeekly.com sources, the
bout between Korean fighter Dong Hyun Kim and Ultimate Fighter alumnus Matt
Brown will be moved from the preliminary fight card up to the main card on
pay-per-view.
