Move to GSP's Gym Prepares Desmond Green for Titan FC Debut
Even though he made it to the finals of this year’s Bellator featherweight tournament, Desmond Green felt that there was something still lacking in his training. So with the goal of taking another step forward in his career, Green left his New York home and headed north to Canada in search of the training he felt he had been lacking.
“I kind of outgrew where I was at,” Green told MMAWeekly.com. “Team Bombsquad took me far, but it was time to get out there and get higher level training.
“Coming up here to Tristar Gym, I have strength and conditioning three days a week, privates three days a week, and then team training twice a day with various fighters. Overall, I’ve kind of gone from JV practice to Varsity practice and I’ve gotten better every day.”
Not only does Green have a new team behind him, but he’s also found a new home for his career at Titan FC, where company president Jeff Aronson helped him get settled before he makes his promotional debut on Halloween night.
“It does feel like a fresh start in the sense that when I was in Bellator I didn’t have management and was fighting guys who had been training at major camps for years, but now at Titan I’m working with Alchemist (Management) and Tristar,” said Green.

When Green (13-3) makes his Titan FC debut on Halloween night in Tampa, Fla., he’ll be facing former WEC champion Miguel Torres (43-7) in what could turn out to be the evening’s most exciting fight.
“I think he’s not going to go out there and give me this win without putting up a fight,” Green said of Torres. “I definitely think I’m bigger and stronger than him and I’m going to impose it. I know he’s great off his back, so I’ve got to be in control and be smart about my positions.
“It’s going to be me pressuring him and be too much for him to handle.”
Green feels that a win over Torres could go a long way towards establishing himself at the 145-pound weight class.
“I think it will open me up to the MMA world as a top prospect in the featherweight division,” said Green. “Since starting in 2012, I’ve managed a 13-3 record and I’ve made it to the Bellator tournament finals without proper training, so people will notice the difference in this next fight (the result of the changes I’ve made).
“Especially since I’m fighting a big-name guy (in Torres), people will see that I really have something going for me.”
