Gegard Mousasi Hunting for the Finishing Touch on Career with Win Over Jacare Souza
“The tempt for greatness is the biggest drug in the world,” once said boxing legend Mike Tyson.
UFC middleweight contender Gegard Mousasi hopes to satisfy his craving for greatness by adding a UFC title to his stash of mixed martial arts accomplishments.
Mousasi has held titles in nearly every organization he ever competed in before arriving in the Ultimate Fighting Championship in April 2013.
He’s the former Cage Warriors and DREAM middleweight titleholder, as well as the former Strikeforce and DREAM light heavyweight champion.
The 41-fight veteran wants to add a UFC belt to his resume and hopes a win over Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza at UFC Fight Night 50 will earn him the opportunity to acquire the centerpiece for his trophy case.

“I’ve won titles in different countries, different organizations. I’ve been fighting all around the world. The UFC is the biggest organization. It’s the highest I can achieve. So to win the title would be my finishing touch on my career,” Mousasi told MMAWeekly.com.
But Mousasi also believes he has to log a good performance along the way to winning in order to secure a place at the table of title talks.
“This fight is a title contendership fight. It has that potential if I can put in a good performance,” said the 185-pound contender.
“It has all the potential to get me a title shot. Of course, it depends on the performance and how I win.
To get to fight for the title is my goal. It couldn’t be better than that.”
