The Nevada Athletic Commission on Thursday formally suspended former light heavyweight champion Jon Jones for a failed out-of-competition drug test prior to UFC 200.
Jones was scheduled to rematch champion Daniel Cormier in a title unification match in the headlining bout of the July 9 fight card. Three days before the event, Jones was pulled from the fight card after being flagged by the United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) for a potential violation. Jones tested positive for Hydroxyclomiphene, a prohibited anti-estrogenic substance.

Jones was given a 12-month suspension from the date of the revelation of the first positive test, July 6, 2016. The suspension by NAC reflects the decision by USADA last month to suspend Jones for a year. The suspensions will run concurrently.
With the agreements reached with NAC and USADA, Jones will be eligible to compete again on July 6, 2017.
